The Perfect Fit
Pukekohe | Apr 22

This stunning family home, based in Pukekohe, had a focus on soft, light, and open energy.

In their bathroom and ensuite they chose tiles light in colour and feel. Ego was the perfect fit with its soft grey tone and organic pebbled appearance, they wrapped this tile from the floor up the walls to make the space feel bigger. They then chose a vertical white subway tile to line each side wall with beautiful, vertical symmetry, nice on the eyes, giving a soft contemporary feel.

“Every decision from the brass tapware to the curved mirrors, and light oak vanities was to create a space that we felt a sense of calm in at the start and end of a busy day.”

They installed a wood-look cork flooring in throughout their home, saying it “became a beautiful fit for our space. The natural oak colour provides a backdrop for the minimalist design I was aiming for.

Natural organic looking timber on walls and feature paneling in our kitchen flow into the flooring, creating a unified feel, and a warm and inviting space to live in. I wanted the flooring to visually carry someone through the house from kitchen, dining, living, and through to the hallway. Our house opens onto timber decking which further creates that visual connection and provides indoor/outdoor flow.

Aside from aesthetics I took into consideration the way we want to live; hosting guests, family and raising children. The space needed to be not only beautiful, but comfortable. The softness under feet and tiny knees of our growing baby was a major drawcard.

Hydrocork has that beautiful element of softness and warmth due to the natural benefits of its cork core.

Practicality and beauty combined, Hydrocork was an easy choice for us.”
